ARTIST STATEMENT
Life is made up of layers.
What you see on the surface of anything—person, animal, object—is made up of layer upon layer of experience, time & energy expressing themselves one on top of the other. What you see on the surface is a snapshot, or a moment of time, of a living work in progress.
In my work, I use oil pastels in layer after layer to express the sense of the universe moving in this layered way through me, through the canvas, through the medium to bring through light, luminescence and imperfection to the surface. I follow a felt sense of these layers until it feels like the right moment in time to share them with others.

ABOUT the artist
Linda Basso is a Northern California-based artist who specializes in abstract oil pastel & collage. She earned her BFA from Michigan State and spent many years as a commercial artist doing graphic design & branding before getting back to her passion for fine art. Basso aims to wake her viewers up to their innate sense of light and layers in their own lives.
