From surviving to thriving

app

Growing your business isn’t easy. With each level of visibility you reach for, resistance, anxiety, overwhelm, and doubt can pop up. It can feel like there’s one foot on the brake and one on the gas. It's hard to stay true to yourself and find your own way to an approach that's easy and authentic.

I’ve been there. And it's no fun.

An artist at heart, I started my career in graphic design.

I created campaigns and brands for companies such as Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants, Domaine Chandon, Jamba Juice, Disney, Coldwell Banker, Xerox, and many others. I received a silver ADDY award for my brand work and have helped clients land placements in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Time, and the front cover of Wired Magazine.

Although my career as a designer was fun and I loved it at times, the truth is that I was hiding my real self.

What  I really wanted was to feel like I was making a difference and working for causes I truly believed in, not just for big business. Feeling torn between needing to earn money as a single mom and being who I really was, I dove into spiritual and personal development work on the side instead of making a career change.

Fast forward a number of years and I had done enough personal growth work to be earning good money and getting clients with ease. But I still wasn’t doing the work I was called to do! So I started down the long and winding road of changing my line of work.

it wasn't a simple or straight path.

I discovered coaching and with a few twists and turns—pivoted to help others to rock their businesses by engaging their whole selves while working on their marketing. But I now had to market myself. Resistance, fear, anxiety, and overwhelm were daily companions. I needed to find a way to make marketing feel in alignment with my values, rather than it feeling like it came from the world of the used car salesman.

It wasn’t until I pulled on both my marketing experience and spiritual tools, the pressure eased and I found a new level of grace in my marketing. And so did my clients.

Then when I started writing my book, I was hit with all the discomfort and blocks we face when having to put ourselves out there. Plus, with this new level of visibility, I got sick, started to break down, and experienced repressed memories of sexual abuse that started to surface.

Facing this past abuse completely transformed me and my business. I now understand that the energy it takes to push down trauma is huge. So there wasn't much left for building my business.

Yep, turns out that what happens to us as children gets activated when marketing ourselves for greater visibility. Some of us learned to keep a low profile and to not become too alive or too vibrant because it wasn’t always safe to do so. Others may have learned that they should stick with what's secure, not to brag or not to hope for too much.

But that doesn’t have to stop you. Through my own journey, I’ve learned how to navigate the terrain of growing a business and the past trauma, stress, or abuse that inevitably gets triggered. I've learned that the best way to market your business is to be totally authentic in all areas of your life. You cannot push down one area and expect another to thrive.

My business and life are now expanding more than could I ever have imagined. I’m living the life I’ve always dreamed of — as a published author with a happy and healthy family, a thriving business, a community I love and a beautiful home. I feel confident, supported, and whole walking on this path.

i want to support you to be authentically visible, find grace in your marketing, and uplevel your business in big ways. all the while moving through the triggers of the past with intention and heart.
